Stinky washerAuthor: Dave Date: 09.18.26 - 6:38pm So I had my washing machine for 20yrs. Bought it in 2006 for $220. Last couple years it developed this funky smell that I just couldnt kill with bleach or vinegar of those affresh tablets. It was driving me crazy. Finally I decided to investigate. I swooshed it around a bit and I heard water so i figured i had a stagnate pocket somewhere or something. Took it all apart starting from the pump them up. Turns out the top plastic ring has water sealed in it as a vibration dampner..ok that was a wild goose chase. Then i finally found it. The seal on the bottom of the tub went bad and was full of funk. $12 rubber seal. 
It still worked perfect, but now it was all apart, and I would have had to clean everything, I figured $10/yr was a good exit point so I just ordered a new one. The new one is fine, but I can tell its basically a computer. The old tried and true mechanical timers are now gone and it flashes code and does goofy stuff I hate. Kinda wish I had kept the old one but..anyway..This is the world we live in. Will see how long it lasts. Comments: (0) |
